Preserving Emotional Value through Non-Retaliation and Its Application to Peace Education

The presentation introduced RUMA as an educational metaphor for the emotional value people are born with, including happiness, kindness, calmness, security and self-esteem.

It illustrated three processes—releasing anger, returning anger and not returning anger—and introduced the preservation of emotional value through non-retaliation and its application to peace education. Non-retaliation was distinguished from suppressing anger or mere endurance; it also includes keeping a safe distance when necessary and seeking help.
